At present, the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages in China is showing a clear upward trend. The latest research shows that drinking more sugary drinks increases the risk of coronary heart disease.
A study published recently in the China Cardiology Congress confirmed that drinking a bottle of sugary drinks a day increases the risk of coronary heart disease by 16%. The study collected the published literature and included a total of 4 studies, approximately 174,000 subjects, analyzing the relationship between new coronary heart disease and drinking sugary drinks. The results showed that people who consumed the most sugary drinks had coronary heart disease 1.17 times that of those who consumed sugary drinks. The United States also has data to prove that between 1990 and 2000, as the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages increased, 14,000 cases of coronary heart disease patients were newly added between 2000 and 2010. The study also found that men are often at greater risk of drinking sugary drinks.
The relationship between sugar-sweetened beverages and the incidence of coronary heart disease may be due to an excessively high blood glucose load, which may lead to insulin resistance, promote inflammatory processes, and promote atherosclerosis. Therefore, it calls on the general public, especially those at high risk of coronary heart disease, to drink less or not drink sugary drinks as much as possible, which will have a preventive effect on the incidence of coronary heart disease. At present, the American Heart Association also believes that limiting sugary drinks is of great significance. The society is exploring whether it is appropriate to reduce the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages through measures such as taxation.
In addition, previous studies have found that excessive consumption of sugary drinks can cause problems such as overweight, obesity, hypertension, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome in children, adolescents, and adults.
Herbal Medicine
Plant extraction process
1. Select plants/herbs. No more than ancient prescriptions, prescriptions, folk herbs to find. At present, common and uncommon herbs have been studied. At present, it is mostly to increase the amount of medicinal materials to extract and separate components with low content, or to find medicinal plants that have never been studied from miao medicine, Tibetan medicine, Mongolian medicine, Africa, Latin America and other places.
2. The extraction. Solvent petroleum ether, n-hexane, cyclohexane, benzene, chloroform, ethyl acetate, n-butanol, acetone, ethanol, methanol, water (low polarity → high polarity). Daily medicine decoction effective, water and ethanol and other solvents with large polarity, such as artemisinin boiling ineffective extraction with petroleum ether and other solvents with small polarity. Common medicinal materials water/alcohol/ether to go through, separation and identification of more compounds.
3. The separation. This is the most important work. In the solution extracted from the second step, there are dozens of compounds, usually by column chromatography, which is often referred to as the column flushing. It's a lot of work, it's boring, it's low tech. A master's student might do this every day for two years. The column for separating compounds, as shown below, is as large as 2 meters high and as small as 10 centimeters. Change the solvent condition of mobile phase, change the material of column, different conditions and different separation principles of column repeatedly punching, can be separated from the monomer compound.
