Moss is a type of filamentous algae, commonly found in fry pools, and sometimes found in adult fish ponds. When a large amount of moss grows in a pond, it will make the pool water drastically thin, which will affect the growth of the fish. The common filamentous green algae is Spirogyra, which generally begins to germinate when the water temperature rises in the spring and gradually grows. Once the fry or fingerlings get into the moss, they lose their freedom and it is difficult to swim out and cause death. 1. Precautionary Measures Using conventional quicklime pond cleaning methods can prevent moss. In the aquarium, water should be filtered into the pond to prevent water from entering the pond. 2. Methods of Killing (1) For ponds without fish, 50 kg of plant ash per acre of water are sprinkled on the moss, which can cause the moss to die without sunlight. The pond where the fish has been placed is used for the depth of water per acre per meter. 0.46 kg of copper sulfate Quanchiposa, can kill the moss. (2) 53.36 kilograms of raw gypsum powder per mu of water per meter, divided into three quarters of Quanchiposa, each time interval is 3-4 days. If the amount of moss is large, the dosage can be increased to 66.7 kg of lime powder for each mu of water per meter of water depth. The application should be carried out after the fish is fed in the afternoon, and new water of 10 to 20 cm can be injected after the medicine is released. The effect will be better. The use of gypsum powder to control moss will not make the pool water thinner, nor will it lead to lack of oxygen in the pool water. After repeated tests, the whole moss can be killed within 15 days, which is better than using copper sulfate.
